Assuming the relationship is fairly uncomplicated (no kids or home to divide for example), please share what you would do and how you would do it.

Sometimes what you think what's best when you go one way doesn't work out like that. For example, I couldn't remain friends with my ex because he wasn't able to get over the breakup. Friendship was out of the question. I wasn't willing to take the chance that he'd ever misinterpret it as a rekindling of more than that.
