If you were choosing a vacation spot in Italy, which area would you go to? Please suggest a good place for an Italian vacation. I would like it to be somewhere small that's in a quiet setting and not a rowdy tourist spot.

I'd also like to know the best time of year to be there. I would rather go in off-season when the airports are quieter too. If you've ever been to Italy, please share your experience of it.
