Where to flip websites?
Where could I sell newly created Wordpress sites and how do I price them? I'd like to flip websites and need to know what to charge.
These would be starter sites with a dozen original articles on the subject and some additional visual interest like pictures and videos. Any pros/cons to this idea? Really they would be a springboard to allow someone to hit the ground running.
I'd also appreciate advice on whether it's better to create them and not sell right away. I'd give them enough time to be indexed on Google before I would of course but is there any benefit in holding them for longer?
I wondered if there were sites that are devoted to this or at least have a section solely for that purpose. Thanks!
Digitalpoint.com and ebay are probably better and cheaper places to sell websites that are of lower value.
See ElegantThemes.com for an example of the business plan and structure.
If you want to get a good price, then you need to monetize the site with adsense and/or affiliate links. Sites making $1/day go from $300 and up. If it's a well designed niche blog/site with increasing revenue, ranked in top 5 of google for at least one keyword, they can go as high as $1500.
The value of the site depends on the revenue. If it's ranked #1 or at least top 3 and the keywords it ranked high for are high volume-low competition keywords then it has potential to bring revenue so it may sell for a decent price.
When selling sites on flippa, never price them $1 like most newbie sellers do. To be taken seriously it needs to be priced properly. If there is no revenue but it has potential I'd say minimum $50, if there is revenue then minimum $200 or even more depending on the revenue (I don't recommend selling it if it makes $5/day or more)
If there is content, and the site has been online for a month or two ,do not list it in new category, list in established category. That brings better bids.
1. Digital point forums - for a quick sale but you have to have a number of posts first before you can post in the marketplace section.

2. Sitepoint - A better price but slower sale.

3. Ebay - You can sell to the less savey webdesigner here but not sure on the price you will get.
Websites prices are normally determined on the revenue they produce from 3-6 months revenue. To be honest I have had problems selling made sites stream even though as you say it helps hit the ground running. Your best bet would be digital point, original templates, unique content and indexing does help the value. Also the traffic you receive will add value. Have a look at the sites that are already selling there, it will give you an idea of what you can get for your sites.
As for holding onto them if you think your traffic will increase dramatically and inbound links then it is worth holding onto for this. However if you are planning to just leave them and believe traffic will stay the same and you won't get any more inbound links then sell for a faster turnover as maturity without the rest isn't really worth anything.
I hope this helps and good luck I hope you manage to turn a good profit.
