Over the years my tastes have changed in authors. I have remained loyal to some for decades and others that I read 20 years ago I wouldn't touch with a barge pole now. As we change ourselves, our book reading tastes change with us.

Still, most people I know have at least one or two authors they will never give up even if they are no longer the hottest thing around. The readers go back and reread their books repeatedly. They pick up anything with the author's name on the cover and take it to the checkout without even reading the back cover. They are that confident that they will love the book.

So who makes your list of favorite writers you will always read, at least until the day they stop writing, and why?
