How many times per week should I exfoliate my face?
I have recently begun taking my face care regimen more seriously. I have started using a face wash, and exfoliate, and a moisturizer.
How many days per week should I use the exfoliate? There aren’t any directions on the container. I have been using it every day for the last week and it has dries out a bit, but I am not sure if that is the exfoliate or the soap. How many times per week should I exfoliate my face?
Bear in mind that you should only exfoliate once a week at most. If you do it too often, you're undoing all the good work your moisturizer is doing for your skin. By removing the skin cells before the moisturizer has time to sink really deep down, you're drying your skin out. Exfoliates often have an astringent action, especially ones designed for oily skin types.
Do yourself a favor and cut it back to once a week. If your skin hasn't recovered from drying out and you see no improvement over the next month, cut it again to once a month.
Be sure also to use one designed for your skin type. Sensitive skins especially can be more prone to break out and show irritation if you use one that's unsuitable. Hope that helps!
I do mine every time I wear makeup, but that could be a remarkably different schedule from yours.
