I am searching for specific feedback from a new business and website I recently created.

1CallImprovement.com

A few notes:

#1)  How would you rate the general idea of the service?

#2)  How clear is the business objective to you (i.e. the unique selling proposition)?  In other words, after spending a minute on the site, do you know what the hell we actually do for you?

#3)  How does the look of the site make you feel?  Does the overall look & feel convey trust and confidence?

#4)  How would you market this service other than SEO and PPC?

Any and all thoughts, ideas, suggestions are welcome and appreciated.  The idea in general has been well received but the site is not converting as highly as I would like -- and I'm trying to get a better pulse on specific demographics that it resonates with.  IdeaOffer is a great forum for this!  :-)

Thanks in advance for the help, ya'll.  I look forward to reading your comments, ideas, and suggestions.

Idea submissions are immediately visible to the public.
1. I like the idea for you service, it's a needed service.
2.Have to admit the business objective took some time to get. You have one page that says you do all types of contracting work, and the other pages say you find contractors. Your FAQ page describes your service best.
3. Your site does have a nice "homey" feel so that should keep visitors there.
4.You could market with radio spots, getting flyers in home improvement stores, hardware stores, etc.
Your business objective was a little confusing at first, you want to make it very clear, as people won't stay on a site long if they don't get it.

1. Services are great, but they should be the prominent (visible) portion of the site.
2. Yes, but I don't know that visitors will find it. We are looking for it, most will click your tabs, but not scroll to see the actual services. Put the "Fast, Easy, Free" where the "Adding value to your home improvement experience" is and reiterate Free in the "Click for FREE estimate" button. And BOLD the "100% guaranteed satisfaction or we will give you $100" Try to remember you have about 3-5 seconds to get your message across.
3. No. Only because of the layout. It needs to be pulled in on both the sides, in the header and in the strip below your tabs. Also, make the vidoe section tight around the video and possibly smaller, with the video opening in a seperate, but small window when clicked. Put your news articles and facebook info on eacr respective page down one of the sides. Most people will not scroll and a lot of your value propositions are below visible level. Pull that info up-even if you can't wee it all, make sure a visitor can tell it is there to scroll to.
4. Free press releases are great. They stay online forever, will get you into the right niches if you keyword them right and they are free. Adding the articles to your facebook and other social media will also inspire confidence. Contests on facebook work well to build your likes, too. Don't embed the articles in your site, wither. Just add links for the most recent and an archives section. Put your testimonials into the content. Finally, your "Click here for appointments button" does not work and that's the most important page! Get that working, check it consistantly and point social media links, articles and PPC there. Most people get lost in a site and leave before getting to the page where you get a real lead. Point them there first and let them choose if they want to poke around the rest of the info.

RE: #1) How would you rate the general idea of the service?

I think you have a Great Idea for your service! :)
and the fact that it is FREE and Guaranteed are, IMHO, things you will want to stress/highlight!

RE: #2) How clear is the business objective to you (i.e. the unique selling proposition)? In other words, after spending a minute on the site, do you know what the hell we actually do for you?

Yes, you objective, message USP is clear :)

However, I had to scroll around and read the whole page to figure out your USP and that your service is FREE and Guaranteed, so you may want to consolidate all of this information "above the fold" e.g. in your header so your visitors "get it" very quickly, you know?

RE: #3) How does the look of the site make you feel? Does the overall look & feel convey trust and confidence?

Unfortunately, the large amount of empty space in your header, the fact that part of the text, etc. "bleeds over to the right" some of which becomes unreadable into the white area makes your site look less then professional and may detract from your visitors trust and confidence in your business and therefore may be hurting your conversion rate, you know?

RE: #4) How would you market this service other than SEO and PPC?

Well, I would recommend that you leverage all of the following:

1) Article Marketing - you appear to have a good number of articles on your blog, so why not convert them into unique articles and submit them to all of the major article directories to build backlinks to your site!

2) Press Releases - you have a number of articles under your News page that you should be able to convert into good Press Releases for submission to again market your business and web site!

3) Social Media Marketing - I see you have a Twitter and Facebook Profiles, but Very Few Followers and Friends/Fans so ... Build your Followers, Friends and Fans and expand your Social Media Marketing!

4) Blog Postings at a regular frequency to keep your site appearing active and current!

5) Search Engine Marketing - I was surprised at how few listing you have for your domain in Google, only @ 134, for which my recommendations 1) - 3) will help!, but ...
You also need to improve the SEO / search engine friendliness of your web site, e.g.:
a) Add keyword, description, etc. Meta Tags to your web pages
b) Take maximal advantage of all of the SEO related WordPress plug ins!
Etc.
... and make sure your have submitted your web site to All of the major Search Engines!

Please let me know if we may be of further assistance in helping you market and/or improve the conversion rates for your site, ok?

I hope this all helps for starters and Have a Great Day! :)

1. I think the general idea of the site and offering is good. People always like to simplify home improvement.
2.I think the messaging of the service is clear.
3.The site may need to some attention. The brown color looks a little drab. And it does have the feel of someone making it in a quick and dirty fashion. I would also make sure that your "Popular Posts" are more current. It is always the kiss of death when the only dated content on the site is from 2 months ago.
4. I think the key is to get home improvement writers to write about it. Talk about the value added delivery and build a reputation. Let word-of-mouth marketing do the heavy lifting.
