The issue of net neutrality is becoming quite a big deal these days, and the FCC is making every effort to sink its teeth into our online experience.

Just from that first sentence it is obvious where I stand on the issue.  I do not trust the government to solve this imagined problem.  In fact, I am quite certain that if we pass NN legislation we will be starting a series of events that will result in permanent and negative changes to the internet as we know it on a regular basis.

But what do you think?  Where do you stand on this issue?

The net neutrality rules will be advantageous for the consumer in general, because they will prevent ISPs from blocking users' access to competitors, but there are loopholes for wireless carriers in the rules that will allow them to charge extra for access various services. If you are one of millions of consumers in the United States who regularly accesses the Internet through a mobile carrier, these new rules that were intended to maintain an open Internet may soon have an effect on you.

Although I agree with the principle of Net Neutrality of "no restrictions by Internet service providers and governments on content, sites, platforms, the kinds of equipment that may be attached, and the modes of communication"! ...

I also agree that currently this is a "solution looking for a problem"!, as ...

Currently there is general unlegislated network neutrality in the United States, so ...

Why spend all of the time, money and energy of our government attempting to legislate and then regulate something that doesn't need to be right now, and would only apply in the United State anyway?

Don't you think that our free market forces will cause anyone trying to impose a tiered or "pay per use" pricing model to lose out to those who do not anyway, as has happened before / thus far?

And Net Neutrality has nothing to do with preventing crime or inappropriate content or activity on the internet, you know?

So, again ...

Let's not waste our time, money and efforts on a solution for which there is not currently a problem!

There are far more important and pressing matters that our politicians should be working to resolve right now!
Wouldn't you all agree?

I hope this all helps and Have a Great Day! :)

While I agree with ChinaCat751 that the quality and value of the Internet will probably decrease with regulation, it is often too expensive and just plain not worthwhile to use without some version of Net Neutrality. However, I think it is absolutely crucial to have strong oversight. There is such harmful information all across the Internet, and it used for such devious purposes sometimes that no matter how many good people use it for how many good things, the bad in it could easily ruin the Internet for everyone if it isn't curtailed.

Net neutrality is essential to the survival of the net. If the net is not free and open to everyone, then it's not the net. If the content on the internet is only in the hands of corporations and governments, it will become just as bad as TV (which is awful).

There is a big illegal activity to Internet that many people should worry about, but I don't think we all must worry if we are legitimate and not hack users.
