An indestructible dog toy?

I have two dogs and love them both like children. The youngest one is two and a nightmare when it comes to toys. Anything we buy him he will play with until he's chewed it to the point of destruction or ignore.

I've tried giving him heavy rubber type ones and he won't play with them at all, so that kind are a waste of money. I don't know if it's the smell or the texture of the rubber he doesn't like.

Can anyone suggest a toy that he couldn't chew to bits in a heartbeat that's not made of rubber? It gets expensive to continually replace them. And please, nothing that squeaks or has a bell inside. Noisy toys get on my nerves. Thanks!

There is a new line of toys made from recycled fire hoses. I think its called Hard Core Fire Hose Dog toys. They seem to last longer than most and easy to get at your local Pet store or online at

small and medium sized portions of deer antlers are available for this purpose at high end pet shops. They last indefininately; however you may need to rub peanut butter or beef broth on them if your pet is not immediately drawn to it. They soon will use it, routinely.

I had the same problem. I have a lab that LOVES his toys. His very favorites are stuffed animals. Unfortunately he rips them apart in less than two minutes.

So my solution was home made. I had a couple of pairs of old jeans lying about, so what I did was cut the legs off of both pairs, then on one of the legs I tied a firm knot in the bottom. Then with the other legs i cut them into fairly wide strips and knotted them up. Then I put the knotted strips inside the first jeans leg and knotted the top up. Presto, instant "stuffed" animal. It may not be indestructable, but he loves it and hasn't chewed through it in the 4 months since I made it. Denim is pretty sturdy stuff!

Although its made of rubber the Kong allows you to put treats inside giving the dog something better to do than eat the toy. We use peanut butter or doggy treats in ours. The last cloth toy with a squeaker we gave our dog lasted 7 minutes until he had the squeaker out. I know what you are going through.

My dogs destroy toys so I get stuffed animals at the swap shed, cut the eyes out and remove the pelleted stuffing, and let them go. They last a week or two but the toys are free so it doesn't matter.
