Are there any museum exhibits that might appeal to her interests? Why not get 50 $1.00 bills and pass each dollar on to someone who truly needs it? I remember "experiences" from my teen years much more than I do the material possessions.

I agree with Cash, but if you can perhaps you should take Cash and take her on a shopping trip to a famous mall with you, and let her choose whatever she likes that's acceptable to you. I think if she doesn't see much of you, she might cherish the memory of a shopping trip with her Aunt and Uncle more than anything.

So many gifts that are given to children for birthdays, holidays, etc. are a total waste of money. I strongly encourage a college savings account be set up and relatives donate to that. Education is forever, a CD, toy, clothes will be forgotten quickly. When your niece is 18 and able to pay for her college, she will be so happy and filled with loving feelings for her wonderful and thoughtful family.

This is a great question. I think that there are lots of awesome gift ideas out there right now for girls your neice's age. The big question though is what are her interests?

Pop Culture is huge right now with the teenagers. I work on contract as a Deejay and my audience is primarily kids and teens.

Does your neice already have an iPod or MP3 player? If so, part of the gift could include an iTunes gift card so she can download music. If she has a player, you can add on to that gift with an accessory. Perhaps a travel case, travel charger, new ear buds, etc...

Another idea might be iPod speakers or an iPod alarm clock.

All of this could easily be done for $50 or less. I have found some fabulous deals on iPod accessories, cases and more at Amazon.com. I would definitely check there 1st for the best prices!

Find out what her favorite stores are. One of the local malls here has a gift certificate that can be used at any store in the mall you choose. They can be used at multiple stores. Call and find out if her local mall does this. You could also get a gift card to best buy or itunes if she has an ipod. Banks too have gift cards that can be used like debit cards. Make sure to check all gift cards for expiration. A lot of them after so much time start taking fees. This is marked on the statement on the back of the card.

She would love a disk from Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber.

Any concerts in the local area? If those are too costly, a gift card is always best. Make it personalized. Maybe it's a gift card to a special music store, or the card has a cute musical-pop design. That way she can buy what she wants and you don't have to rack your brain over it. Plus, there won't be hard feelings with returns. :]

Other ideas in that age field could be [depending on what kind of girl she is] a nice trip to get her nails done, and facial; something in a salon or spa. These can also be certificates, in case you don't want to be there with her the whole time, and she can bring along a friend.

Lastly, there are make your own charm bracelet places. I'm not talking about the cheap kind that you can buy at any jewelry store. These places are known for real sterling silver, and the charms are personalized [meaning she can pick how many she wants and which ones she wants]. It's a great gift to remind her about you, and she'll wear it more often because it won't rust.

If you can't find a place nearby, worst comes to worst, you can find them online, but it's a better bonding time with her if you're there while she makes her own bracelet. But just in case--something like this:
