Fruit that isn't fruit
Another health food post from me today...
Part of a healthy diet is fruit, but what about those of us who don't really like fruit? I know we are a minority, but it's the sad truth. I can't stand fruit. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to like fruit, but it just won't happen.
Fruits do, however, play a pretty important part in a balanced diet. So what would you recommend so that I can get the vitamins and nutrients that I need without forcing myself to eat fruit?
I already take vitamins but would like to expand a bit and go a little more natural, if possible. Totally open to suggestions, just no guarantee that I'll like them. :)
Thanks.
One thing that he does like though is V8 V-Fusion it's a mix of fruit and vegetables in a juice. No sugar added, just the good stuff in there and it's not terribly sweet. You might want to give that a try.
Also I agree with the earlier poster that vegetables pack just as much vitamins and nutrients as fruit does. If you really don't like fruit don't force yourself to eat it in the name of health. Just stock up on some more veggies. Colorful ones are great for Vitamins C & A and dark leafy greens are filled with vitamins.
Look for recipes that incorporate both of them in ways that you like. Here is a website with a bunch of recipes to try http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes_menus/collections/healthy_winter_greens_recipes#1
The more you like the healthy foods you're eating then the more likely you'll stick with a healthier eating style too.
Good Luck! :)
Tomatoes are a Fruit but don't taste like most citrus and/or other fruits.
Further, you can have tomatoes in a wide variety of forms and dishes, ...
From tomato sauces and pastes, e.g. on pastas, pizza, etc. to tomato juice, which you can have any time of the day!
Therefore again, I would recommend Tomatoes as your "Fruit that isn't fruit"! :)
I hope this all helps and Have a Great Day! :)
They sell them in various flavors and can be quite nutritious.
Green and leafy vegetables are high in vitamin K. Such as Spinach, collard greens, cucumber broccoli, lettuce, and cabbage. If you like coleslaw or sauerkraut you'll get your fill of both vitamin C and K.
Here is a site you can check out that lists the basics of what foods contain which vitamins. You can make a pretty decent menu off of this list. I live by it!!!

Second, what about fruit juices. The V8 fruit blends seem like a great source of fruit, but drinking those isn't like eating an apple.
Third, how about boiling down some fruit with a little sugar and pouring it over ice cream. I know it's still fruit, but the sugar and concept of it may help.
